Final call for our free ‘Design for Additive Manufacturing’ course

Course Curriculum - Design for Additive Manufacturing

We’re bringing design for additive manufacturing knowledge to as many people as possible.

Last year Gen3D won a grant from Innovate UK called “Business-led innovation in response to global disruption” and spent many months working hard to use the funds responsibly. We’ve developed a free “Design for Additive Manufacturing” course to give support and help upskill people who are out of work or on furlough due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With over 1000 users from around the world, we want to let you know that March 2021 will be the final month that the online course will be offered at no cost. If you are interested in high quality training in the field of design for 3D printing, we highly recommend you join the course soon.

Using the Gen3D team’s extensive academic research backgrounds and industrial experience, the course is an ideal introduction to the fundamentals of DfAM. It is accessible to anyone who wants to learn or extend their skill set in designing components for additive manufacturing. The course consists of 5 lessons which contain:

  • Over 3 hours of video content
  • 50+ pages of detailed notes
  • 5 interactive design tutorials
  • Industry test cases

Wesley Essink, Gen3D co-founder and CTO says:

“One of the biggest challenges in the uptake of additive manufacturing  is the ability to design optimised parts for the process. Extensive DfAM knowledge has been created, however, it’s often locked up in academic journals or knowledge is kept within large organisations. Gen3D changes this.”

Steven Goguelin, the course instructor and Gen3D’s application engineer, says:

“We’re providing a new type of learning experience, bringing DfAM knowledge to as many people as possible. We’ve had incredibly positive feedback from course alumni, especially the ability to showcase their learning with a completion certificate.”

This free design for additive manufacturing course covers all the fundamentals. This includes design theory, practical tips, and exemplary industrial case studies. There are also interactive design exercises created within Gen3D’s own design software. These help consolidate key learning points from each of the lessons.

At the end of the course, you can receive a course completion certificate which is ideal to showcase your new design for AM skills.

If you are interested in learning more about design for additive manufacturing, you can sign up for the course at www.gen3d.com/learning. The course will become a paid for item of training on 1st April 2021.
